When our friend, Sylvia, heard that the farmers in Hoi An, Viet Nam could benefit from organic seeds, she responded with her typical can-do attitude, spreading the word among her community. The results were impressive.
Sylvia, herself, is a special kind of farmer who plants positive seeds through her many projects in her hometown of Oceanside, California, USA. She is a yoga teacher, a Qi Gong teacher, a meditation teacher, a gardener, a mother and grandmother, and a wife to the musician, Peter Andrew. Together, they travel the world with their company, Inner World Music.
The farm is a project of Action for the City, one of the foundation’s primary community partners. More than 20 families in a commune on Cam Thanh Island, very near the historic town of Hoi An, have chosen to stop using chemicals and return to the organic farming techniques of their ancestors.
Already known for its fresh and wonderful food, Hoi An is becoming a model for the rest of the country, due to the courage of such farmers and the support of Action for the City and friends like Sylvia.
